Antidote
ANTIDOTE: (left to right) Leigh and Jorge Goyco
Fight or Flight

Antidote is Jorge and Leigh Goyco from Austin, Texas. They've been married since October of 1994 and have two dogs. They are grateful that God is allowing them to use their talents with this music.

The Full Release Fight or Flight has four lyric based songs (Bjork, Sneaker Pimps, Portishead style) and five mainly instrumental tracks, with an occasional message (Uberzone, Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Prodigy, Daft Punk style). They consider their music style to be Electronic/Dance/Trip Hop/Funky/Acid/Jungle/Trance.

They believe that God is going to use them to minister to unsaved kids in secular dance clubs and Rave scene, as well as encourage Christians to a deeper, more sincere relationship with God. In other words, Antidote is straight-forward enough that everyone will know where they stand in their beliefs and be able to grow as a result.

Antidote has played in and around the Austin, Texas area, as well as Cornerstone '97 & '98 in Bushnell, Illinois (a 5 day music festival). They have also performed at several venues in San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Oklahoma, and Chatanooga, and are working with Christgroove Booking for upcoming national tours.

Antidote was first featured on the N*Soul indie dance artist compilation Eclectica released in late 1997 with the cut "Trust". After the enthusiastic responses from their Eclectica contribution, they were also on the dance sampler album Future Sounds of Faith featuring a special edit of the enigmatic "Debris". The complete version appears on the pre-release album What Mountain? pressed as a pre-release available only through N*Soul Records.

In November of 1997, Antidote's story (A Christian Techno Band Getting Signed) was featured on the MTV program called MTV News Unfiltered. They interviewed Christian artists, record store clerks, and people on the street, and got some interesting views. They were concerned about what MTV would leave in and take out of the final edit, considering the content, but were very pleased with it when it aired. It has since aired about 6 times and the transcript is online.

Antidote's live performance consists of Jorge spinning antidote tracks on a dual CD mixer along with strange noises and interludes and recorded samples of sermons being preached right along with the music. They've also got some cool 1960s-70s educational films and some loops that have been mixed and intertwined onto video that can be projected onto a wall or played on TVs and a slide show. They give out bibles, tracts, candy (Testamints) and Superballs with messages on them.

God is in control of Antidote's future, and they are hoping the future holds breaking into the mainstream by getting some of their songs playing on national (secular) radio, getting invited to play at big Raves, getting secular DJs to spin antidote tracks, and sharing the love of Jesus to mainstream artists like The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Bjork and Marilyn Manson.
